PASSENGERS

Drivers Must:
Stop as closely as possible to the left or near side when passengers are being
picked up or set down.

the operator.
Not distract the driver unless to speak in an emergency, to deal with a safety
matter or to give directions concerning the stopping of the vehicle.
Not distract the driver or obstruct his vision.
Not give a signal that can be misinterpreted by the driver as a signal to stop
in emergency or a signal to move off .
Travel only in a part of the vehicle that is available for carrying
passengers.
Leave the vehicle if the driver indicates that it is full or where the
passenger:
Is causing a nuisance, is in an offensive state, is wearing clothing that
might soil the vehicle or other passenger's clothing.
Not use or play any noisy musical instrument (including radio, tape recorder
etc) on the vehicle.
Not deliberately interfere with the vehicle's fitted equipment.
Generally
Aisles and entrances must not be obstructed with personal possessions or
baggage.
Drivers have to search vehicles for lost property and have a legal duty to
keep lost property safely until it can be returned to the owner or handed to
the operator for safe keeping pending later reclaim.
It is illegal for alcohol to be carried on coaches that are used to carry
passengers to or from certain designated sporting events. The company, the
hirer of the vehicle, and the driver, are all liable to prosecution if they
knowingly cause or permit intoxicating liquor to be carried anywhere on the
vehicle. There are also restrictions on timing of journeys and stopping points
when travelling to and from football matches.
Always check when hiring a coach to go to a sporting event to if any legal
restrictions apply - and make sure passengers are aware of them and comply
with them.
